Day 1

Flight from Zanzibar to Selous

In the morning, fly from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam, where your safari guide will meet you. You will arrive around 08:00 hrs and drive straight to Selous Game Reserve. The journey takes you to Selous in time for lunch. Settle into your lodge or camp and enjoy a hot meal. After some rest, head to the jetty for an afternoon boat safari. Cruise along the Great Rufiji River, spotting crocodiles, hippos, and colobus monkeys. Various birds like fish eagles and kingfishers can also be seen. Other animals gather at the river to drink water. Crocodiles wait for prey, creating thrilling wildlife encounters. Enjoy the beautiful sunset before returning to your lodge or camp. Have dinner and stay overnight at Selous Tented Camp or Selous Mapumziko Lodge. Both accommodations sit along the scenic Rufiji River

Day 2

Explore Selous

Start with an early breakfast at your camp or lodge before heading to Selous Game Reserve. Spend the day exploring Africa’s largest wildlife reserve. Enjoy game drives while searching for animals and birds in the vast wilderness. Spot gazelles, giraffes, impalas, elephants, wildebeests, kudus, and zebras. With luck, you may see the rare African wild dogs. Selous is named after European explorer Frederick Selous. The reserve is almost the size of Switzerland. It features untouched wilderness with savannah woodlands, grasslands, and ancient rocky outcrops. The Rufiji River helped shape this stunning landscape.
