10 day kilimanjaro climb through Lemosho route

10 DAY KILIMANJARO CLIMB - Overview

Embark on a thrilling 10 day Kilimanjaro climb through the scenic Lemosho Route. Experience breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife. The 10 day Kilimanjaro climb on the Lemosho route has the highest success rate. This extended 10 day Kilimanjaro climb provides stunning views of West Kilimanjaro. It connects with the Machame route during the second stage. Hikers on this 10-day Kilimanjaro climb pass breathtaking landmarks like the famous Barranco Wall. While the Lemosho route is usually completed in seven or eight days, a 10 day Kilimanjaro climb improves acclimatization.

The seven-day trek starts at 3,500 meters, whereas the eight-day trek begins at 2,200 meters. This marks the key difference between them. The eight-day route starts at a lower elevation, allowing hikers on a 10 day Kilimanjaro climb to trek through a tropical jungle on the first day. The seven-day trek skips this portion. The rainforest section is only encountered on the way back. The Lemosho Shira route can be completed in six days, but a 10 day Kilimanjaro climb offers a steadier ascent and a higher chance of summiting successfully.

Fitness needed to climb mount Kilimanjaro

Climbing Kilimanjaro is challenging due to the altitude, steep ascents, and changing temperatures, but it is achievable with proper preparation. On most days, you will walk for six to seven hours, so pacing yourself is crucial. Hiking too fast makes it harder for your body to adjust, while a steady pace helps with acclimatization. Being in good shape also makes the climb easier, so start training a few months in advance. Multi-day hikes are ideal, but running and other cardio exercises also help. Altitude sickness is unpredictable, but you can reduce the risk by adding an extra day to your trek, giving your body more time to adjust and improving your chances of reaching the summit.
